老彼得．布勒哲爾
1525年～1569年9月9日

文藝復興時期布拉班特公國的畫家。1551年，他成為安特衛普的著名藝術家，曾遊歷義大利。1559年，他在安特衛普完成了他的曠世名作《尼德蘭箴言》。他擅長描寫居住鄉間的生活，相較於當時風行的義大利畫派，他以簡明的手法創作，影響他最深刻的，當屬古荷蘭畫家耶羅尼米斯．波希。

Pieter Bruegel the Elder
1525 – 9 September 1569

Peter Brueghel the Elder was a Renaissance painter from the Duchy of Brabant. In 1551, he became a famous artist in Antwerp and traveled to Italy, and in 1559, he completed his masterpiece “The Netherlandish Proverbs” in Antwerp. He was good at depicting the life in the countryside. Comparing to the popular Italian school of painting at that time, he used simple techniques to create his works, and he was deeply influenced by the earlier Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch.
