宮本武藏之鯨退治

這是由浮世繪名家歌川國芳所繪製的三聯畫。畫中描述以二刀流聞名於世的日本武尊宮本武藏，在大海中與巨鯨搏鬥的場面，場景設於肥後國( 即現在的熊本縣)。在那雙方交戰的空間，四面波濤洶湧，激起巨大浪花，整個畫面被巨鯨填滿，僅餘小片的陰暗天空與海浪，顯現戰鬥的激烈與對峙的高潮。三聯畫的接口可看得出無法銜接的部分，可見當時作畫的艱難之處。

Miyamoto Musashi Attacking the Giant Whale

This is a triptych painted by the famous Ukiyo-e artist Utagawa Kuniyoshi. The painting depicts the scene where Miyamoto Musashi, a Japanese hero renowned for his two-sword style, fights a giant whale in the ocean. The setting is in Higo Province (now Kumamoto Prefecture). In the space where both sides are engaged in battle, waves surge in all directions, stirring up enormous splashes. The entire picture is filled with the giant whale, leaving only a small portion of dark sky and sea waves, emphasizing the intensity of the fight and the climax of the confrontation. At the seams of the triptych, one can see the parts that do not align, showing the difficulty of creating such a work at that time.
