出身維也納的象徵主義畫家，也是維也納分離派運動最具代表性的成員之一。早期是以傳統方式進行建築裝飾的畫家，隨後他的作品主題逐漸成為爭議。他在 1900 年為維也納大學大會堂天花板完成的畫作被批為色情作品時，爭議達到高潮，讓他之後不再接受公共委託，而是憑藉他的馬賽克鑲嵌裝飾風格，開啟日後的「金色時期」。

Gustav Klimt

Gustav Klimt is a symbolist painter from Vienna and one of the most representative members of the Vienna Secessionist movement. After an early career as a painter who decorated buildings in the traditional manner, the subject of his works became increasingly controversial. The controversy culminated in the criticism of his 1900 painting of the ceiling of the University Hall in Vienna as pornographic, which led him to stop accepting public commissions and to rely on his style of mosaic tessellation, later known as his “Golden Age”.
